A Year

It started with joy.
The kind that makes
your heart sing.
Our big cheeked boy.
Born before winter
cedes to spring.

The days grew light,
It was time to move.
But the sale fell through,
As Dylan turned two
(Oh dear).

We’d sold our little flat,
So that was that.
Off we went,
From London to Kent.

We moved once,
Then twice.
Renting then buying.
Mummy was crying
From lack of sleep,
And the art of trying
To remember where everything is
(It’s not easy moving twice
With two little kids!)

What else?
Mummy started her blog.
Artie’s baptism:
We roasted a hog
In the late summer sun
As Autumn begun.
And drank all the craft ale
Daddy could find on sale.

A family wedding,
Stag and hen.
Ladies to Paris,
Alp d’huez for the men.

The event itself!
Uniting the clan.
Two little page boys.
Maid of honour.
Best man.

We danced to the end,
With family and friends.
Mummy gave thanks,
To the wonders of spanx!

It was time to rest
But, what’s that? Christmas is here?

It’s a lot to fit in
To one little year.

We were blessed
We could do with a rest!

Happy New Year!

LOL! Love it! What a great way to round up the year and how busy have you been? It sounds like it was hectic!

    • It was! My focus this year is on adventure and having fun!

    • Thank you. Yes me too! I’m doing pretty well so far. As well as you can with a 2.5 year and 10 month old anyway!

  2. Two moves in a year with two tiny children! Hope you’re settled now and not planning on doing much packing in 2016!

    • It was actually within a few months – April and then July & with half our stuff in storage in the interim – I wouldn’t recommend it! The only packing I will be doing will be for a long overdue holiday!

What a great way to sum up a year – I love it! What a hectic year too – you certainly could do with a restful 2016. Thanks for linking to #whatImWriting

    • Thank you. Yes my resolutions are far less worthy than the others I’ve been reading on the (fabulous) #whatImWriting mainly focusing on rest, adventure & having fun!

  4. Thank you for making me smile πŸ™‚ Sounds like you’ve had quite a year! Here’s to some r&r in 2016… x

  5. I echo Maddy – what a great way to sum up your very hectic year! Wishing you all the best for 2016. πŸ™‚

  6. It sounds like you’ve had quite the year, how did you fit it all in? You deserve a medal for managing to move house twice with two young children!

  7. This is brilliant, I love it. Moving house is a pain, but at least you are settled now and can concentrate on your new lives in the country. Where in Kent are you? I live in Sevenoaks.

    • Thank you. Yes, that thought of finally settling kept me focused. Me too! Small world.

      • Yes! Between Riverhead & Bradbourne Lakes. You? Coffee?!

      • Just near Sevenoaks primary. I walk the dog down that way sometimes. Would love to meet!

      • Fab! I will find you on stalker book!

  8. Love this! What a fabulous way to look back over your (very busy!) year πŸ™‚ Moving with small children is not fun, having done it twice in the last three years (not as bad as three months, granted, but still too much!) I hope that we don’t have to do any packing, other than for holidays, for a long time! #whatimwriting
